Kid's Pink Modern Play Kitchen
Our kitchen and dining area are the command center of our home. This is a special place where we start and end each day. Aside from making all of our meals here, its a place where we all hang out and talk about our days, plan our weeks, etc.
The problem was, we needed a place for the kids to play while we cooked meals and cleaned up after. Our playroom is in the basement so we needed something close by to entertain both our 5 year old and one year old.
Enter the play kitchen! AKA our kitchen within a kitchen. :)
We initially tried this out when we had small kiddos coming over for a family get together and thought our play kitchen would help keep everyone entertained and together spending quality time.
Versus the alternative of kids in the basement and the adults keeping an eye on them secluded from everyone else. Turns out this setup near the kitchen was huge hit with kids and adults alike!
I paired down our play kitchen accessories and play food to make cleanup easier…
The kids enjoyed “cooking” while we cooked and the adults were able to catch up at the same time. Cleanup was a breeze because anything that doesn’t fit in the fridge or cabinets can be thrown in the basket. Easy. Peasy. As time goes on I’ll switch out what’s in the basket for other fun kitchen-y things to keep it fresh.
Throw in some things from your own kitchen that you can spare and voila. I would highly recommend this idea to anyone with littles who needs free hands for cooking (real food.)
I also discovered a great way to clean a ton of toys easily at once, making things clean before and after a visit. Using a large plastic tub, I added a splash of Thieves concentrated cleaner and filled the rest with water. Threw the toys in and let them sit for about 20 minutes. Rinse them with clean water and lay out on a towel to dry. Boom, you’re done.
Have you tried a kitchen within a kitchen? How do you entertain your littles in the kitchen?
Best,
