Guest Bathroom Renovation
This is where we started. Travertine floors and luckily the vanity wasn’t exactly original to the house like the tub and shower combo but it also wasn’t our style & definitely needed some love. So, let the demo begin!
This project presented a major time crunch for us. We seriously finished this bathroom the same week my parents came to visit for the first time. Breathe. :)
However, our contractor and everyone who worked on this project were absolutely amazing. Everything was finished on time and working properly.
The Design
I knew I wanted something light and bright as there is no natural light in there, so that was super important when creating the design. I also wanted guests to feel relaxed and like they were in a nice hotel bathroom.
Here’s what I came up with:
Penny tile is such a great material to consider. It’s very affordable, comes in a ton of different colors & materials and can be laid in a million different patterns to create a bigger impact. I was really inspired by these bathrooms…
After looking at a lot of different patterns that ranged from vintage looking to more modern, I really loved the striped look best. The horizontal stripes make the space feel larger and it’s just a great timeless design that we won’t get sick of.
the process
Our contractor had one fun surprise in store for us. A motion sensor installed on the wall next to the shower that lights up the shower ledge. This has been a fun little addition to what was already an exciting change.
Above you can see we also added a nice piece of granite that looks more like marble to the transition rather than more tile. I think it adds a nice touch. For a piece of stone that was under $200, it makes a big impact.
Now for some grout…
And some hardware…
Let’s not forget about the vanity.
We really love how everything turned out. It feels bright and fresh and it’s very functional for our guests. I stocked the vanity with travel size toiletries people tend to need. I recommend having toothpaste, deodorant, mini nail files, disposable razors, q-tips and cotton pads. And of course a hairdryer. I also leave one of these sponges in the packaging for each person to use and then just toss it after they leave.
What do you do to be the hostess with the mostest?
Best,
