We've Moved! (Again.)
Thus far, our longest time in one home is four years. While we do plan on staying in this one for quite some time, we shall see. :)
This move was huge for us. Previously, we had moved around to different parts of our hometown, never more than 30 minutes away. This time however, we headed out of state. Like, waaay out of state. We moved from our hometown of Kansas City to what has been one of our favorite places to visit, Phoenix.
After so much thought, research, late night talks and more research, we decided to just go for it. Leaving our family and friends, along with all the comforts of home behind. Not to mention, during a pandemic and insane housing market to top it all off.
Luckily, we found a house we absolutely love. Not without some caveats though. Initially we wanted to find something already updated. That idea went out the window pretty quickly due to how crazy the market was and how fast things were selling.
While finding something move-in ready would have been great and all, it just wasn’t in the cards. That probably would have been a little boring for my project loving taste anyway!
We ended up finding a home in the area we loved, close to the schools we loved for our kids, with a pool (a requirement for Phoenix summers) and with everything going for it—minus its’ builder basic 80’s attire.
Here’s a peek at what we started out with…
From the wood cabinetry to the worn out “everything bagel” looking carpet, this gal needed a loving update. So much potential here I could not wait to get started. We ended up living through this renovation (read:DUST), not ideal, but it has made our family truly appreciate how far we’ve come.
This has been such a healthy move for us. While we miss our family and friends the most, our guest room has come in very handy!
